Inter Care is a charity which recycles patient-returned medicines which would otherwise be sent to landfill or incinerated. These medicines are sorted and sent out to 116 rural health units in 6 of the poorest countries in sub-Saharan Africa. They are sent directly to the units so Inter Care knows that they reach their intended destination. People in these communities are extremely poor. Inter Care, founded in 1974 supports the work of over 100 rural hospitals and health centres in Cameroon, Ghana, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zambia by sending regular supplies of essential, quality basic medicines that are recycled in the UK. We are unique in our work and are a recipient led charity. Without us over 9 million men, women and children would not have access to quality medicines that would otherwise go to waste in the UK.
