Endurance Riding Home International 27 Aug 2010 - 28 Aug 2010 The core aims of the Home International Competition are: * To encourage riders at all levels The team consists of 7 riders ranging from experienced endurance competitors riding 160km to complete novices and a junior member aged under 16yrs. This mix enables the less experienced riders to benefit from the advice and encouragement of higher level competitors as well as giving all riders the opportunity to benefit from top level training and support. Each rider will also have at least one "crew" member who is primarily responsible for ensuring the horse's well being throughout the event. The crew are an essential part of the team - without whom the riders could not complete the challenging course. There are no grants available as, although Endurance Riding is one of the core equestrian sports covered by the British Equestrian Federation, it is not an olympic discipline. Each rider therefore needs to fund the full costs of training, kit, entries, accomodation etc themselves in order to ride for their country at this competition. These are ordinary people who have ordinary full time jobs and this is a huge amount of money to have to find - hence the need to fundraise. Please support our riders this year by donating online. |
