Sunday 29th April 2012

Welcome to our 2012 event; whether you are an elite runner, an occasional jogger, wanting to do a run or walk or wish to have some fun with family and friends, then this event is ideal for you. And you’ll be raising money for worthy local charities and organisations. Over the years, £353,000 has been donated exclusively to Cambridgeshire based organisations; it’s recognised as the largest community-led event in the area, regularly attracting over 1,100 entrants

Rotary Club of Sawston District (Fun Run Charity Account)

The Sawston Fun Run has been organised and expanded by the Rotary Club of Sawston District, on behalf of the local community for the past 10 years, and it is now the largest community led charity event in Cambridgeshire. Every year they try to improve the organisation and make it easier for participants to enter and raise sponsorship. The sponsorship money raised through Everyday Hero will be paid initially into the Rotary Club of Sawston District Charity Account where it will be eligible for Gift Aid. All of the money will then be distributed to the designated beneficiaries.

By combining their skills, resources and enthusiasm, Rotarians make a real contribution to local communities by raising tens of thousands of pounds for community projects and local charities. Members also volunteer their time - supervising community events, running a host of projects aimed at promoting the achievements of young people, coordinating educational programmes, and supporting local businesses. It’s not surprising that ‘Community Service’ is the traditional and well-known public face of Rotary.

Local Charities and the Community will benefit from the 2012 Fun Run.

As it’s the Olympic and Diamond Jubilee year more people than ever are expected to turnout to enjoy the community fun. The Rotary Club of Sawston District hopes to raise at least £15,000 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice at Histon, Cambridge Samaritans, Macmillan Cancer Support, Cambridge and fourteen other local charities, organisations and schools helping over 1,000 young people.
