Thank you so much for choosing to support Nightingale House Hospice with your forthcoming challenge.  You really are incredible because by doing what you are doing, you are enabling funds to be raised to support the wonderful work of Nightingale House, which supports patients (and their families) in North East Wales who are living with a terminal illness.

We understand that each challenge is very different, mainly because of the effect upon the individual taking part.  What denotes a challenge, is anything that tests the body or minds strength beyond their usual capacity.  At Nightingale House, for some of the patients this could be something as simple as standing vertically again for a family photo, tasting a cup of tea or having their hair done for a special celebration.

Last year we were overwhelmed by the challenges that were undertaken by people in the community. One lady skydived during the course of chemotherapy treatment, several jumped out of planes with fear of heights.  Many trained and trained for cycling sportives and marathons whilst others zipped the longest zip wire in Europe.

Whatever challenge you have chosen to undertake in 2015 will make a massive difference to the lives of the patients who need the care and support of Nightingale House. For this, staff at the hospice cannot thank you enough for choosing to support the charities good work.

Nightingale House Hospice

In 2017, Nightingale House Hospice celebrated its 20th annniversary of providing specialist palliative care services to people in North East Wales.

Based in Wrexham, Nightingale House provides specialist palliative care, completely free of charge, to people in local communities.

Services include a 12 bed inpatient ward, day care unit, complementary therapies, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy pool, occupational therapy, outpatient clinic, bereavement services, art therapy.

Each year it costs approximately £2.8 million to run the Hospice. If the Hospice started spending its statutory funding on 1st January, the money would run out by 20th March. It is only thanks to the fundraising efforts of local communities that the Hospice is able to stay open all year round.
