Walk for Autism is a new fundraising campaign to raise funds for people with autism of all ages.

When is it?

World Autism Awareness Week starts on 26 March and ends 2 April.  So there's a total of 8 walking days

Do I have to walk 10,000 steps every day?

Yes, but you don't have to do them all at once.  10,000 steps equals around 5 miles, but every step counts, even the ones to the kitchen just to put the kettle on.

How do I count my steps?

Once you've signed up we'll send you a pedometer that will count your steps for you.

Do I have to fundraise?

Yes, it's important to fundraise, no matter how big or small to help us provide the best possible opportunities for people with autism.  Aim for £10 per day.

Where does the money go?

Walk for Autism is organised by Autism Initiatives Group.  We support more than 3,000 adults and children with autism in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Isle of Man.  The money raised will help Autism Initiatives Group continue to deliver these services.

Can I use sponsorship forms?

No, you need to sign up to Everyday Hero to set up your online fundraising page.

What do I do next?

Spread the word....

Once you've set up your fundraising page, Everyday Hero will send you the link to your fundraising page but it's up to you to get the word out.  Use your social media to promote your fundraising page and you can email the link too.  Top tip: Pay day is the perfect time to launch your appeal with workmates, catch them when they're feeling flush :)

Welcome pack

The Walk for Autism team will be notified once your fundraising page is set up and we will send you a welcome email and welcome pack that includes a Walk for Autism T-shirt and pedometer.  We'll be sending out a few text messages too so please provide your mobile number.

Start walking

In the weeks running up to World Autism Awareness Week, you can get your t-shirt on and get walking.  Make a note of how many steps you're doing already so you need to know how many to build up to.  Don't forget to share your photos with us on social media and tag us in!
Keep informed

Your page will also appear on the Leaderboard on the Walk for Autism home page so you can see how everyone is getting on throughout World Autism Awareness Week.

Once you're all set up you'll be joining a team of walkers who all want to help people with autism, we're all in this together!
